Happy Birthday America

On July 4. 1776 the USA claimed independence from Britain and was born America “The Land Of The Free”. In this year of 2008 there are many things to celebrate, but let us not forget our troops, fighting for others freedom, and wish them safe.

If you are celebrating this year please do so responsibly and do not be a Fool! Many a finger and toe has been lost in celebrating this nations birthday. Please be extra careful. Accidents can and have happened in the most “safest” of displays.

I am reminded of a story my dear father told me of the “when I was your age” varieties. No money to waste on fireworks, and being in the coal mining area, he decided on the glass jar, water and carbine, shake and toss, sort of like a grenade. He had a nice scar right below his left eye that he used for emphasis!

Just be safe keep your finger and toes and eyesight. remember it’s all fun and games till some one loses an eye! Just ask the Rat Pack!  (look it up).

I hope you all have a great time, however you decide to celebrate. If you have a picnic and with plenty of cold beer and watermelon, save some for me.
