NEW YORK - JUNE 24: Crowds of people line up to watch the Gay Pride Parade June 24, 2007 in New York City. The parade celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender pride and honors the Stonewall riots of 1969, when gay bar and nightclub patrons resisted a police raid at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village.

June 27 seem to be a buy day over the years, according to my morning newspaper. In 1844, Joseph & Hyrum Smith were killed by a mob in Carthage Illinois. Joseph was a Mormon leader.

1n 1846, telegraph wires were used to link New York & Boston. During WWII the French port of Cherbough was captured from the Germans.

More than 500 people lost their life when Hurricane Audrey pounded the coast of Texan and Louisiana, in 1957.  In 1969 the gay rights movement was born, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, In New York’s Greenwich Village.

2003 brought us the first day of the national do not call registry in which more than 735,00 phone numbers were registered!
