Data Nuker via Hackosis

WARNING: THIS WILL PERMANENTLY ERASE ALL DATA ON ALL HARD DRIVE HOOKED TO THE PC!!!

  1. Boot from the DBAN floppy or CD image.
  2. Enter ‘autonuke’ at the boot prompt.

I don’t think I would ever have a need for this, unless I just want to toss an old drive out and make sure my personal Data was erased. Hackosis claims this to be an “EMERGENCY DATA DETRUCTION”. From the site “Need to securely erase any hard drives hooked to your PC automatically when the FBI knocks on the door?

I hope I never have to do that and I really think if they are at your door it’s just to damn late anyhoo!

Darik’s Boot And Nuke will wipe ALL detected hard drives at boot up, so if you get this utility be sure to not just leave it lying around! That could be disastrous.

This program is also great if you are doing a clean install of an OS, start from scratch so to speak. You can download the exe and put it on a floppy. If you don’t have a floppy as many of us, there is also a CD Images available!

Please be careful, and don’t be a fool, leave that to me!

  2. Thx… could you tell me how I can get access to an old drive… I set one of my old 40gig as a slave, but then a friend wanted me to check his old 10gig for lost info… while the 10 gig was in the kids turned off the system or we had some type of power surge and had to reboot… I forgot the 10g was there and then pulled it out put my 40 in and now it’s all mess up… it only see the 10g and the drive is scrambled… any clues?

  3. @Allure you are welcome. thanks for the comment.
@chato I can only guess, you have the jumpers set right on the drives, do you have 2 drives in? Can you access your cmos settings? You could try setting them as cable select on both sometimes that will work on an older system.

  4. I have to say, that I could not agree with you in 100%, but it’s just my opinion, which could be wrong.
